All-terrain contender

With many challenges to consider, including recent penalties for diesel and high emissions, the new 2019 Jeep Wrangler offers a small petrol engine. Launched in the UK over the weekend, Jeep’s infamous off-road vehicle starts at £44,495 – nearly double the US entry price. Still, as the Daily Express points out, there’s very little competition in the rugged all-terrain segment. “…only the likes of the Suzuki Jimny (which is tiny) and the Mercedes G-Class (which is eye-wateringly expensive)…can compete with it.” The niche vehicle hopes to cash in on its adventurous spirit. Although it may not be for everyone, those who drive a Jeep Wrangler are sure to make a statement.

Jeep’s adaptations for UK market

In an effort to create the best possible fuel-efficiency for a vehicle like the Jeep Wrangler, engine choices are limited. Consumers can choose between a 2.2-litre Multijet turbo diesel and 2.0-litre turbo petrol. The 3.6-litre V6 engine previously found is no longer available. However, with a 4/5-star performance rating from Auto Express, it still packs a punch. “If you opt for the petrol engine you’ll get off the mark even more quickly, with a 0-62mph time of around seven seconds.” It’s also worth mentioning that the new Wrangler only offers a 8-speed automatic gearbox. These factors, among others, account for the increased base-level price.

Maintenance and servicing

All new Jeep Wranglers come with Jeep’s 5-3-5 five year servicing warranty, three year servicing plan, and five years of roadside assistance. This coverage, however, may not include essentials like MOT tests. Fixter handles the entire door-to-door process for MOT tests (£29) and other servicing requests. Your car will be picked up, taken to one of our highly-certified garage partners, and dropped off whenever is convenient. No more wasting time waiting for a servicing. Request a quote below.
