Our expert insights into car diagnostic

What is a car diagnostic?

There are hundreds of potential error codes, which only specialist diagnostic equipment can read. So when a warning light flashes on the dashboard, a diagnostics check is needed to assess how bad the problem is, and what may have caused it.

What happens when my dashboard illuminates a warning light?

The warning light is just the beginning—it doesn’t give the whole picture. There are hundreds of parts in your engine, so the exact nature of the fault may not be immediately apparent.

Our reviews

Takes a lot of stress away

I would definitely recommend this company: knowing someone was keeping an eye on everything to make sure I wasn't being overcharged for parts and labour takes a lot of stress out of having the work done. I felt really well looked after. Thank you Fixter.

Kathleen Hodge, West Yorkshire

Excellent service

Excellent service. On time to pick up my car & drop it back. Full service cost £179, main dealer quoted me £700-lots different!

Total game-changer!

Just had my MOT done through Fixter for the first time. It took about 5 minutes of my time in total to book, hand over the key, and get it back when the car was returned. So I was able to carry on looking after my 2 year old. Total game-changer!

Oliver Woodford, London

No need to drive to a garage

Can't get more convenient than someone turning up, taking the car from the house for its MOT and returning it a few hours later. No having to drive to a garage (often miles from anywhere or in the middle of an industrial estate) or hanging around waiting.

Darren, Pontefract

I literally cannot fault them

This is the 3rd time I have used Fixter and I recommend to everyone. It makes getting an MOT super easy for me. Everyone I speak to on the phone is incredibly helpful and polite, and they seem to be the most cost effective. I literally cannot fault them.

Want to learn more about Mazda car diagnostic?

What is a car diagnostic?

Modern cars have an onboard computer or Engine Control Unit (ECU). This continually assesses performance, with sensors throughout the car letting the ECU know of issues such as raised engine temperature, low fluid levels or problems with emission levels or the windscreen wipers. The ECU triggers an error once a problem has been found, and the relevant dashboard warning light will flash, but there are hundreds of potential error codes, which only specialist diagnostic equipment can read. So when a warning light flashes on the dashboard, a diagnostics check is needed to assess how bad the problem is, and what may have caused it.

We use state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment

Live data shows multiple readings from across the engine to assess whether everything is working as it should. The equipment can also check and rectify braking systems where there’s an electronic handbrake, and adjust headlights where possible. You don’t need to go to a dealership to get diagnostic testing done. Most garages and workshops will carry out diagnostic testing for nearly all models and types of vehicle.

Mazda

The Mazda Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, initially established in 1920 as a toolmaker but went on to start building cars in the 1930s.

An innovative engineering based company, Mazda has over half a million vehicles on the roads in the UK. Their popularity has made a steady climb over the past 10 years; it’s no real surprise with their provision of smartly designed vehicles and unique philosophy.

Luxurious yet affordable motoring

Mazda philosophy: Jinba Ittai—drive together

Mazda professes to create each car around its driver—engineering them to move their drivers both literally and emotionally. They call this ‘Jinba Ittai’, and this inspiration comes from Japanese tradition, a natural connection like that between a horse and rider symbolising a ‘oneness’, where the car is merely an extension of the driver.

Zoom-Zoom

Possibly Mazda’s most popular marketing slogan, established in 2000 and trickle fed through many further campaigns to help them become the well-recognised household brand they are today.

It’s fair to say that Mazda likes to do things a little differently. They make strong, bold choices, and aren’t afraid to put their efficient larger engines in their cars where other marques are working on smaller, on-trend turbocharged options.

Mazda: easy on your pocket—fun on the roads

The current UK range includes models to include tourers, SUVs and the ever-popular MX-5 convertible. Despite often seemingly going against the grain of motoring trends, Mazda makes cars that are affordable to buy, economical to run and great fun to drive.

What happens at a Fixter car diagnostic inspection?

We charge a fixed fee for diagnostic testing that can be done while you wait. This is usually done within an hour, but if further work is required, it will clearly take more time. Our highly-trained and qualified mechanics will give you a no-charge, no-obligation repair quote if testing highlights issues with the engine or anything else, and talk you in detail through what is needed to put things right.

So next time a dashboard warning light flashes on, don’t pay dealership prices for diagnostic testing. Let us manage it all for you, picking up your car for its testing, and ensuring a fair price and a reliable service.

Examining fault codes to identify the problem

A diagnostic check accurately identifies the fault, avoiding more serious problems that could lead to costly repairs, potential safety hazards or worse damage. With these tests, your car is plugged into sophisticated diagnostic equipment which reads the error codes your car’s ECU has generated to explain the issue in full. Diagnostic checking looks for errors across various vehicle systems, including tyres, engine management, lights, emissions and more.
