What does brake fluid do?

Brake fluid is a special hydraulic fluid that is used to transfer the force created by pressing down on your brake pedal into the brake pads (or shoes) against the brake discs to slow the vehicle. It is used to transfer force into pressure, and to amplify braking force making you slow down much quicker.

A brake fluid flush essentially takes all the old, dirty brake fluid out of your system and replaces it with fresh, clean fluid. Including a brake fluid flush in your regular car maintenance is important and should be done around every 30,000 miles or every two years, whichever comes first.
